Alex Moate is an experienced Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, who is accredited with the BACP.
Counselling can provide you with much needed clarity when life seems full up, with no room left to think. I provide a non-judgemental, safe and confidential space to explore issues that you are facing, to look more closely at the impact that these are having in your life and to begin to gain new perspectives. As an integrative practitioner I am able to work flexibly with you, with my work being informed by different approaches including Gestalt, Person-centred, Psychodynamic and CBT. This means that I am able to work in a way that will best suit your individual needs.
Issues I work with include lack of self-confidence, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, bereavement and loss, sexuality, gender and identity issues and traumatic events.
If you are having problems with low mood, social anxiety, worry, OCD or more generalised anxiety I also have specialist knowledge in working with adults and young people using low-intensity CBT. This can provide you, or your child, with the skills to challenge more negative ways of thinking and move forward with your goals.
I have worked within the NHS counselling members of staff, as a Counsellor and Low-intensity CBT therapist at Off the Record and most recently as a Counsellor at a Sixth Form College in Bristol. I have also worked in private practice for over 8 years as a Life Coach with adults and young people.
I received my Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of South Wales and also have a Post Graduate Certificate in Psychological Therapies Practice for Children, Young People and Families from the University of Exeter. I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their code of conduct.
Sessions last for 50 minutes and cost £60. I also offer an initial consultation at a reduced cost of £40, which is a great time to see if counselling is for you and whether I work in a style that suits you
Please feel free to ring or email me for a chat and to ask any questions that you might have before booking an initial consultation.
